Howdy! I'm Michelle: Designer, illustrator, artist, mortal.

I'm Michelle Mayhall—a designer, illustrator, and mixed media artist with passions for storytelling, cuteness, the macabre, nature, roller derby, dogs, baking, art nouveau, fantasy, collaging, and more. My very super clever roller derby name is Miss Mayhem—hence "Mshell Mayhem."

Oh, a little about me professionally? Following my internship designing at Walt Disney World, I started running my own mini illustration and design business while still completing my undergraduate degree in graphic design—mostly creating portrait illustrations for people to give as gifts! This has evolved over the years to illustrating character art for authors, designing and illustrating authors' self-published books, designing logos, creating D&D character art—you name it! 

I've continued this work while also creating as a contract marketing designer and gaining over four years experience working for an independent publisher—progressing from Production Designer, to Book Designer I, to Senior Book Designer, up to Associate Art Director. This time in each of these fields has allowed me to gain TONS of experience in both the technical aspects of print and digital design, and the fun and artistic side I love so much.

I am currently working as a freelance designer, illustrator and art director across multiple fields, and I am hoping to use my unique blend of skills to create a positive impact in my community—and maybe yours too!
